Do the Japanese value ethics over money?

Americans are often seen as very money driven or greedy people, especially when it comes to consumerism and owning the latest of everything. And, sometimes this can lead to unethical behavior where 'the ends justify the means', especially for money making. But, how are things done in Japan when it comes to earning money? Would a Japanese business man consider his ethics and pride to be more valuable asset than earning money?
