I'm a journalist interested in spending some significant time in northern Japan researching the Northern Territories for some magazine articles and/or a book. I was wondering if anyone could help me with resources / contacts / travel specifics of all shapes and sizes. Websites, academic experts, tourist operations located in northern Hokkaido... anything really. Does anyone know anybody who's ever been to one of those islands north of Hokkaido?
