梵字 Bonji is Sanskrit characters used essentially by Buddhism monks to write down prayer. Remember, Buddhism originated from India. 卒塔婆 wooden sticks surrounding tombs are written in Bonji. |

What is the relationship of your post with Bonji? Anyway, 梵字 means Brahmi scripts, ancestor of Devanagari scripts. Brahmi was imported to India from Phoenician scripts at 8th century B.C. Please look at About Bonji for the details.

Hello! I was refered to this site by someone I asked for help to learn about Bonji. I am a tattoo artist and I specialize in traditional Japanese designs. Since most of my designs relate to Japanese Buddhism, and becuase I am myself a Buddhist (although not a very good one I'm afraid), I want to know what the Bonji Characters mean and use them in my art. I also paint- I would like to incorporate Bonji into my paintings. Can I ask for help here, or is there somewhere else? How do I become a member of this forum. I would like to learn so that I can give back- contribute to the forum. If anyone can, and will, help me please email me at: nick@bodyadorned.com Thanks, Nick Anderson Body Adorned Tattoo Austin, TX www.bodyadorned.com |
