I am thinking of getting a tattoo of it, but I would like to know what it means first. It is composed of 2 components: the left component means "bone" while the right hand side gives a phonetic value "shi". This is the classic method de create complex characters by combining a phonetic value and a key component which may suggest the final meaning (bone->death in this case).
