I need to know what a symbol means in English. It is on the SHI Comics that my husband and I collect. I am thinking of getting a tattoo of it, but I would like to know what it means first. Thank you, Melissa |

Dear Madam, This character means simply "death". It is composed of 2 components: the left component means "bone" while the right hand side gives a phonetic value "shi". This is the classic method de create complex characters by combining a phonetic value and a key component which may suggest the final meaning (bone->death in this case). If you need the meaning of other kanji characters, please download a demo version of Japanese tutorial program "Free Light Japanese" which gives the meaning of the most important 1945 characters. Kind regards. |
