There is no translation for "digital" in hirigana, so there is some katakana. Just wanted to tell you that. Image here: http://www.boomspeed.com/matjlav/digitalsamurai.jpg "Digitaru na samurai" Digitaru = Digital na = particle used to allow adjectival nouns to modify nouns. samurai = samurai Kind Regards

I need a Kanji translation, but not an exact translation. I need one that captures the idea of the following phrases: never give up many times bent, never broken if you fall off a horse, get back on If there is some type of proverb that says it better than I have, let me see it and tell me what it means. Otherwise, give what your best attempt at the concept is. Your help is very much appreciated! Thanks! |

pretty much literal translations of the first two, but the last basically means "if you fail, try again". From top to bottom: never give up many times bent, never broken if you fall off a horse, get back on どう致しまして! You're welcome! |

| Posted on Tuesday, September 09, 2003 - 05:00 pm: | |
Thank you so much for your help! I have one more question though, with the "many times bent, never broken" saying, could you seperate the phrases for me? For example: Many times bent Never broken Thank you so much! |

I'll give you some proverbs... here's a good one for the first... REQUEST: NEVER GIVE UP PROVERB: 石の上にも三年 READING: いしのうえにもさんねん MEANING: 冷たい石の上にも三年座り続ければ暖かくなる TRANSLATION: If you sit on a cold rock for three years, it will become warm. ENGLISH MEANING: Patience will be rewarded. |
Mr. Anonymous
| Posted on Tuesday, September 09, 2003 - 08:11 pm: | |
Second one... REQUEST: MANY TIMES BENT, NEVER BROKEN (maybe, "live through the bad things, good days are coming"?) PROVERB: 待てば海路の日和あり READING: まてばかいろのひよりあり MEANING: 物事がうまくいかないときは、気長に待っていれば、そのうちによい事が訪れる、という こと。TRANSLATION: Meaning that "When things are not going well, if you wait patiently, sooner or later good things will visit". ENGLISH MEANING: Even though things are bad now, the future is bright. |
Mr. Anonymous
| Posted on Tuesday, September 09, 2003 - 08:28 pm: | |
REQUEST: IF YOU FALL OFF A HORSE, GET BACK ON PROVERB: 負けるが勝ち READING: まけるがかち MEANING: 一時的には負けたようでも、全体的に見れば勝ちになっている、ということ。 TRANSLATION: Meaning that "Even though one is temporarily loosing, if one looks at the big picture, they are winning". ENGLISH MEANING: Fret not now, keep trying because you are doing well. |
Mr. Anonymous
| Posted on Tuesday, September 09, 2003 - 08:51 pm: | |
Well, basically all of them could have been put under the first two... whatever... Corrections for the image: 一度も諦めるな or 一度も止すな 何度も曲げられても一度も割られていない 遣り損なえば更に試みて But, maybe 仕損じれば更に試みて would be better? I dunno... whatever... same diff... |

Thank you for the quick response! I have one more favor though. Could I have the literal (word for word) Kanji translation for the phrase "many times bent, never broken" Also, since there are probably differences in phonics between english and kanji, could I have a translation that reads correctly in kanji as well? Thank you very much! |

愛 = Love 恨 = Hate If you want these words big please adjust font size in your browser ok... For people who want generic terms like "I love you" please PLEASE check the other threads first.. I know I have posted it at least twice already thanks. But here it is yet again: 愛してる = I love you (but it is rarely used, yadda yadda...) 影魔 = shadow demon 血魔 = blood demon Please please check these w/ somebody else I'm not totally sure thanks. 力 or 力量 = both mean strength or power, they are very close to each other. Oh, and also, 雅 could also mean 'grace'. Sorry Matjlav I just wanted to point it out though your translation is also right. Btw you do a lot of translations on this site that's nice of you =) ~~I think I should sign up for a screename instead of posting as anonymous all the time. =D bye bye. |
