Minna sama, Hajimemashite! I am learning a few classical Japanese songs and have encountered some problems in understanding parts of them. One of them is "Kita kuni no haru", the 2nd and 3rd paragraph of which is given below. I am particularly unsure of the meaning of the following. Can anyone help? せせらぎ がふく 好きだとおたがいに 言い出せないまま わらべ あにきもおやじ似で 飲んでるだろうか Douzo yoroshiku onegai shimasu. AP ........................ 雪とけせせらぎ 丸木橋 から松の芽がふく 北国の ああ北国の春 好きだとおたがいに 言い出せないまま 別れても五年 あのこはどうしてる あの故郷へ 帰ろかな 帰ろかな 山吹 朝霧 水車小屋 わらべ唄聞こえる 北国の ああ北国の春 あにきもおやじ似で無口なふたりが たまには酒でも 飲んでるだろうか あの故郷へ 帰ろかな 帰ろかな | ||

Dear Akaipanda (=Red panda), You are right. This poem is really confusing. "Seseragi" means usually "little water stream" but followed by the verb "fuku" (=blow), so "Seseragi" seems to signify "little wind stream". The usage of "warabe" (=child or children) at 4th line seems out of context, too.
