is there some rule for the stressing of syllables in Japanese words? If so, could you tell me? And if there is no real rule, could you tell me where I could find something where I could get the stressing of all Japanese words? ありがとうございます!

雨 and 飴 have the same hiragana, which is あめ, but they have different pronounciations. 雨 (rain) is Ah-me where as 飴 (candy) is ah-ME About the only way you can learn the "stressing of syllables" is if you talk with japanese people because written japanese doesn't have any "stress marks". Oh, maybe there are japanese-somelanguage dictionaries that will write it out in romanized text with accents? i dunno... I would check into KODANSHA. They have excellent dictionaries. |

Here is an odd question for you. When writing Japanese in Romanji I like to use the long "o" or "u" with the line at the top. Unfortunately that line doesn`t seem readily available in word. Any ideas on how to get it with out surfing the webs in hopes of locating it. Yoroshiku |
