1. Japanese Names Would it be correct that I could use the nanori (name pronunciation) of a kanji character and use that to make an English name, such as mine, Matt (in Japanese, Matto)? Since one of the nanori pronunciations of the symbol for "pine tree" is "Ma(double consonant symbol)" and in the symbol for "person" one of the nanori pronunciations is "to," could I write my name as shown here: http://www.angelfire.com/oz/pi12345/matt.JPG instead of just writing Matto in Katakana? ? 2. Could I write a kanji in its on-yomi (Chinese) reading, in Katakana? Meaning, that instead of writing the kanji, or "neko" in Hirigana, could I write By in Katakana? |

i know how to write my name (Ryan) in katakana but i would greatly appreciate it if you could tell me how to write it in kanji. If it helps any, Ryan comes from an Irish root meaning "little king." |
