Hello Peoples, I am looking for the translation of a few english words to the correct characters that would represent them in Japanese. As i am aware many words can be represented by many different symbols, so i have attempted to explain what i mean after each word on the left Faith - as in faith in myself and faith in others around me, as well as a belief in the spiritual world and the existence of life after death. Hope - as in maintaining hope or always remaining positive through my life journey. Soul - i believe every person has a soul, and that this is our essential life force and houses our spirit. Trust - as in maintaining my trust in my personal relationships with those people who are close to me. THANKYOU SO MUCH IF ANYONE OUT THERE CAN HELP ME. | ||

Scott, You identified two (or more) types of faith from the perspective of the Japanese mind. Faith in the religious sense is probably best captured by 信仰 (shinkou). For instance, a devout believer would be labelled a 信仰者 (shinkousha). Faith in yourself (which really means confidence, doesn't it) is 自信 (jishin) while faith in others is 信頼 (shinrai) or 信用 (shinyou). The most common words for hope in Japanese are 希望 (kibou) or 期待 (kitai), the latter with a hint of expectation. Soul is 魂 (tamashii) or 精神 (seishin). Trust in personal relationships is tidily expressed as 信頼関係 (shinrai kankei). But I truly hope you don't tattoo yourself with any of these expressions. |
