Mr. Anonymous (both of you),

Isn't the 十 symbol usually omitted when writing numbers (unless you're writing formally), so it would be like this:

0 = 〇 Maro
1 = 一 Ichi
2 = 二 Ni
3 = 三 San
4 = 四 Yon
5 = 五 Go
6 = 六 Roku
7 = 七 Shichi or Nana
8 = 八 Hachi
9 = 九 Ku
10 = 一〇 Juu
11 = 一一 Juu-ichi
12 = 一二 Juu-ni
13 = 一三 Juu-san
14 = 一四 Juu-yon
15 = 一五 Juu-go
16 = 一六 Juu-roku
17 = 一七 Juu-shichi or Juu-nana
18 = 一八 Juu-hachi
19 = 一九 Juu-ku
20 = 二〇 Ni-juu
21 = 二一 Ni-juu-ichi
22 = 二二 Ni-juu-ni
23 = 二三 Ni-juu-san
24 = 二四 Ni-juu-yon
25 = 二五 Ni-juu-go
26 = 二六 Ni-juu-roku
27 = 二七 Ni-juu-shichi or Ni-juu-nana
28 = 二八 Ni-juu-hachi
29 = 二九 Ni-juu-ku
30 = 三〇 San-juu
31 = 三一 San-juu-ichi

no! you write 十 (juu)!! the only time one would use ○ (maru) is if you were talking about phone-numbers or things like addresses...

例(rei):555-5032 would be 五五五−五○三二
例え(tatoe):80 would be 八○ for a house number

if you are talking about dates and numbers and stuff, you should use 十 for the most part. BUT, usually you can just use arabic numbers (unless it's some kind of formal document or something)

So, conclusion... It basically just matters on the situation!

cheers

Also, 十七 is not read "juu-hachi" ever! EVER! It's "juu-shichi" or "juu-nana".

BTW, wtf is "melai"
