We simply choose the Japanese letters with the closest sounds. パ is "pa" ト is "to" リ is "ri" ッ indicates a jump (like in the middle of the word 'catcher') ク is "ku" |

Hi. How would my name "Eric" be written in Japanese? Is there a Katakana or Kanji translation? Thanks in advance |

I think エリック would be more accurate. |

Matjlav and Anonymous...thank you very much for the Eric translation! I want to learn Japanese. Could you tell me how it was done? Did you break my name into phonetics and translate from syllables? Is the translation for "Eric" written in Hiragana, Katakana, Kanji, or a mix from all? Thanks! |

Your name was indeed broken into phonetics and the closest sounds in Japanese were used (see Patrick example above) to write your name in katakana (the system used to write foreign words, italics, sound effects, etc).

Hey, I was wondering if my name could be translated into Japanese? It's Danielle, and if you could tell me how to pronounce it that would be really great! (Please post a graphic, my computer's having problems) Thanks ahead of time, if anyone can help! |
