Of course, they don't. You can't get your name written in kanji in standard usage. If you've seen foreign names written in kanji, they're just inventions. | ||

Yes, but like I said, misty can be "invented" as a Japanese name. You have a choice of selecting the concept of "mist" or of choosing the pronunciation of the name. | ||

The disadvantage is that it won't be that obvious that it's supposed to be _your_ name. The advantage of choosing the pronunciation is that it will (if you're lucky) be read as something like your name. The disadvantage is that it will look like a bunch of kanji thrown together at random and often very silly meanings can be found for it. (c.f.
