Does anyone know the translation for this word, "shiorashii"? There were no kanji where I saw it, it was written in hiragana, and I have been able to find it in no dictionary. Thank you ^_^ |

I pasted the following from Microsoft Bookshelf Basic. しおらしい 〈おとなしい〉 gentle; modest; 《形式》 meek; 〈かわいらしい〉 sweet; 《形式》 tender; 〈哀れげな〉 pathetic 文例 ご恩返しをしますって, お前もしおらしいことを言うじゃないか. 〈皮肉をこめて〉 You’ll make me weep [You make my heart bleed], with your talk of repaying my kindness some day! あのお転婆娘のジェーンが好きな男の前ではあんなにしおらしく振舞うから面白い. One can’t help smiling when a tomboy like Jane behaves so meekly in front of her boyfriend. New College Japanese-English Dictionary, 4th edition (C) Kenkyusha Ltd. 1933,1995,1998 |
