Maybe you should ask some of these questions in a chinese forum. Here are some reasons:
1. Kanji are really from China [known as hanzi there]
2. Chinese is more similar to english than japanese is [More litteral as well as figuritive meaning similarities]
3. Ig you want only kanji [not hirigana or katakana following your character or instead of a kanji charaater] because japanese uses alot of words from english like disco [disuko] computer [kompyutaa] etc etc. Chinese however has kanji [or hanji to chinese] for every word...

umm computer is コンピューター (konpyuutaa) not kompyutaa...
